The Catonsville Celebrations Committee has been tasked with the planning of the 4th of July celebration in Catonsville since 1947. The Committee first organized the event as a “safe and sane” holiday for Catonsville residents. 66 years later and the Catonsville Celebrations Committee is still in charge of funding and organizing this great Fourth of July celebration.
Each year on the 4th of July, Catonsville residents flood Frederick Road to watch the annual parade. However, few give a thought to how the parade is funded or organized. They just know that the parade will begin at 3 p.m. and will be spectacular.
You may be surprised to learn that the 4th of July parade and fireworks are funded solely through donations. Every year, the Catonsville Celebrations Committee raises funds without assistance from county or government agencies. All funds received are from YOU, the citizens of Catonsville, Arbutus, Woodlawn and surrounding areas.
